Full Day Hanoi City Tour - Itinerary

8am - 8.30am: Your friendly English speaking Tour Guide will collect you from your hotel in the Old Quarter. You will then begin your journey through Hanoi City.

8.45am: First on your Hanoi city tour is a stop at Tran Quoc Pagoda, located on Golden Fish Island on West Lake. It is here you will see the oldest pagoda in Hanoi, built in the 6th century.

9.30am: Now we visit the highlight of the day, The Ho Chi Minh complex. Here if you wish, you get to see the embalmed body of Ho Chi Minh himself in a glass casing. After this you then get to walk around the stunning gardens to see houses where he both lived & worked from 1954 to 1969. After this you will also get to see the famous One Pillar Pagoda, the most unique pagoda in the world.

11.15am: We will now visit the Vietnam Ethnology Museum to learn about the culture of as many as 54 ethnic groups living in Vietnam.

12.45pm: We will now sit down and have lunch at a local Vietnamese restaurant. Here you have an opportunity to enjoy Vietnamese cuisine with 8 delicious dishes.

2pm - 2.15pm : We then continue, after lunch, to see the Temple of Literature – the first university of Vietnam, established in the 11th century.

3.15pm: Now we leave for the Hanoi Hilton as the American POW's called it, otherwise known as Hoa Lo Prison Museum. This prison was originally used by the French colonists in Indochina for political prisoners, and later by North Vietnam for U.S. prisoners of war during the American War. 

4.15pm - 4.30pm: The tour finishes and you are dropped off at your hotel

Important information

  • On Mondays, the Ethnology Museum is closed so we will visit The Women's Museum instead
  • Wear comfortable shoes
  • Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is closed on Mondays & Fridays and from 5th September to 31st October for maintenance. But you can still take pictures around the Mausoleum and surrounding area.
  • Must dress modestly by covering your shoulders & knees, when visiting Ho Chi Minh mausoleum, temples, pagodas etc. No cameras are permitted inside the mausoleum.
